To further consolidate MPUP students’ understanding of the global economy, Dr Mark Michelson, teacher of MPUP5331 Government and the Economy, has organized a “Dialogue on Foreign Direct Investment” in the form of webinar via Zoom on 28 March 2020 (Sat) with two guest speakers, Ms. Cheryl Wilson and Ms. Rowena Hoy, both formerly worked with Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) of the HKSAR Government and are currently working with several international investment promotion agencies.
During the Dialogue, Ms. Cheryl Wilson, former Head of Tourism & Hospitality, InvestHK and Ms. Rowena Hoy, former Head of Consumer Products, InvestHK were invited to shed light on their expertise in business strategic planning and communication and their work experience in the HKSAR Government’s investment promotion department. Following the kick-start of introducing the extent on how foreign direct investment manages to facilitate the establishment and growth of companies, the two speakers shared some of their successful cases of market entry and expansion for foreign companies.
Apart from the insightful sharing by the speakers, MPUP students benefited greatly from further discussing with the two experienced practitioners about the correlation between domestic policies and foreign direct investment during the Q & A session.
